Ivica Olic (r., against Christian Lell) has netted six times for HSV in the Bundesliga this season
FC Bayern confirm interest in Olic
Bayern München have one target firmly in their sights in the search to further strengthen their squad.
The FC Bayern management have confirmed they would like to see Hamburger SV striker Ivica Olic pulling on the shirt for the record title holders next season.
"We've said we're interested. Now we'll have to see how things develop", Bayern CEO Karl-Heinz Rummenigge said before the club headed off for the Champions League group match at Olympique Lyon.
No transfer fee
Rummenigge had already outlined in the tabloid "Bild" the reasons for Bayern's interest in Olic. "We're convinced that Ivica would be the perfect foil for our forwards Luca Toni and Miroslav Klose. And as a nice bonus, his contract is due to expire." In other words, Olic could move to Bayern on a free transfer.
The player's agent, Gordon Stipic, said on Tuesday that the 29-year-old Croatian international (60 caps, 10 goals) would be considering his sporting perspectives over the winter break. FC Bayern kick off the second half of the season at Hamburg on January 30th.
